3 Initiatives FOR the Future
FAQ’S
+ Why Now?
The better question is why not? We have a united leadership. Our staff and elders work together and have clear alignment on the future of Bachelor Creek. Our kids and student ministries are growing, and wise stewardship necessitates that we plan for the future.
+ Why remodel the worship center?
Currently many of our pews are worn, torn, and aged. Moving to theater seats will allow for more accessible seating and this actually adds more seating capacity. With online being the place many will check out BCCC for the first time, we want to make sure our online services reflect the quality of our in-person services. Our AVL is dated and new equipment will not only help our online sound and video, but our sound in the worship center will also improve to help those hear more clearly.
+ Why a community park/playground?
One of our desires here at Bachelor Creek is to have a facility that is used 7 days-a-week. We want to be good stewards of what God has given us, and we believe we can do that by providing a place that people can gather all week long. Our location makes a playground easily visible and lets our community know they are welcome and wanted here. We are uniquely located between many different towns that allows our property a perfect place for families and friends to gather and play. The pavilion will also be utilized by our youth, small groups and other outdoor events.
+ How much will it cost?
We estimate the total cost of the project to be approximately $4.9 million. This figure includes the Bachelor Creek Community Park with playground and pavilion, the worship center remodel, the renovation of the kids’ areas, the adult classrooms being moved to the front of the building, the addition of a new elementary wing, and the payoff of the Lighthouse Mission mortgage.
+ How will we pay for it?
We have received a very generous anonymous gift from several families that will cover approximately ⅔ of the entire project and we are looking to our congregation to raise another $1.7 million to complete the project. We are in the process of trying to secure different grants to pay for the playground. We know that’s a lot of money. Everything in our world is more expensive than it used to be. Homes are more expensive, groceries are more expensive, cars are more expensive, building materials are more expensive.
+ What’s the timeline?
There are several factors that go into this project, but it is realistic that construction could begin in the worship center in early fall of this year. We anticipate the worship center remodel to take 3 to 4 months.
+ What will we do while the worship center is being remodeled?
We will temporarily move our worship service to UpStreet. Our elementary kids will move to the Block, and our middle school and high school students will meet on Sunday evenings only for this period.
+ Why are we tearing down part of the building?
It would cost more to remodel that part of the building than to knock it down and it still wouldn’t be an ideal ministry environment. The stairways are very narrow, making it hard for parents dropping off and picking up their kids. That part of the building takes days to heat up and cool down. There is no large group space in Tiny Town currently. Most importantly, it is not handicapped accessible. It would cost $100,000 to put in a limited use elevator, but that still wouldn’t address the narrow hallways and cost to heat and cool that part of the building.
