MOPS is a place where moms can come as they are, feel encouraged, and enjoy some good food and fellowship. Our theme for this year is: The Home Factor - Begin Here, Go There. "...he lives with you and will be in you." John 14:17. We will focus our meetings on the home as a place where we bond, build inwardly and also a place where we refuel so that we can live fully in the world beyond. We will be following the theme's book "Dwelling" and watching the DVD series.

Welcome back to MOPS 2008! I hope you are as excited as I am to get back to MOPS. We have a lot planned for the new year. Neat crafts, more talks from our mentors and great food and fellowship.

Some of you were able to get together with your discussion groups, that's great! If not, don't be afraid to reach out to others and invite someone over to visit or out to lunch. Making friends will make your life more enjoyable and inspire you to be a better person. As MOPS says, Better Moms Make a Better World!

I hope you are getting alot of insight from our "Dwelling" book, creating a healthy home. Honestly, I've never thought about so many aspects that make up a home. I've always wanted a pretty, well furnished home. But my home is a work in progress (I'm married to a contractor, you know) and I have not always been content with my home. But I know my children have always felt loved by their parents and know that home is where you belong and are nurtured and safe from all storms of life even if the roof leaks!

This book has given me alot to think about, especially as it is where our children's life story begins...
There we were shaped, wounded, loved well or not well; we developed our tastes, our preferences, and our prejudices. We remember favorite meals and holidays and family gatherings or maybe we remember lonliness or sarcasm or sandwiches alone in front of the TV.

We will continue reviewing the book and watching our DVD Home series. See you then!

MOPS is a growth group for moms with children pre-birth to Kindergarten which encourages them as they mother during the important first years of their child’s life. Moms attend meetings while their children are cared for in the “MOPPETS” program. Meetings feature discussion with other moms as well as refreshments and a creative activity. Mothers unable to attend the daytime meetings may still join MOPS through the MOPS to Mom Connection and receive MomSense magazine and other resources.
